COMPUTER CLASS
Three things you need to know:
1) Do your homework
2) Pay attention in class
3) DO YOUR HOMEWORK
That's all you need to be successful. Mrs. Belisle is really cool and will teach you a lot if you just let her. =)

Pictures that Lie
I chose three pictures of myself from recent years (2007, 2008, and 2009). I chose these because I thought it would be interesting to see if I have changed during these three years. I also just wanted to see what it would be like if I were a set of triplets. I chose the background picture of the sun rise in the North Pole because I thought it looked cool. I got the pictures of myself off of face book and I found the picture of the North Pole on stock exchange.
To make this picture, I removed myself from the background of three photos using the magic extractor tool. I then put them on the background photo of the North Pole. Next, I changed the hues, brightness, and saturation to make the photos not look like they were all taken at different times. Then, I resized the photos to make them look like the people in them were all the same size. Finally, I positioned the pictures on the background in an eye-capturing manner and cropped the background to avoid an excess of space.
The manipulation took place for my own amusement, therefore it was not harmful. I am not publishing the photograph to try to pass it off as a real photograph. Even if I was, the assumption that I am part of a set of triplets does not harm anyone, even if it is deceitful.

Favorite Powerpoint Presentations
Monica's presentation was about photography and how to make ameture photos look professional. Some of her tips were the rule of 1/3s, framing, and having lines pointing to your subject. She used custom animation to make each of these concepts come to life and showed a real mastery the Powerpoint program.
Ellee's presentation was about bees and how they are dying. It was interesting to see the different ways bees impact our lives and how vital they are to our agriculture. The design of her powerpoint was excellent and I loved all the pictures of bees.

PowerPoint Presentations
My five guidelines for Powerpoint Presentations are:
1) Do not use too much text. Talk instead.
2) Make sure you know your material well so you can engage the audience rather than reading off the slide or a note card.
3) Use basic fonts, slide transitions, design, ect. Too much going on distracts the audience from your message and causes them to focus on the presentation instead of you.
4) Have a consistent theme for your presentation--it makes it more visually appealing.
5) Keep the progression of your presentation in mind. It should flow and be easy to follow.

CLT (AT&T Center for Learning and Technology)
I knew about the CLT lab because on my second day on campus my suite mate and I explored the library. We went down to the bottom floor because it looked dark and ominous, then lo and behold--the CLT lab with a friendly staff! One of the people who worked there briefly explained what the lab was for and its capabilities, but of course with all the new information I was getting about everything on the Trinity University campus, I sort of forgot most of what he said. I have used the CLT once this year for a Drama project. I had to show how I would make the design set for a stage, so I used the CLT's Windows systems to utilize Photoshop so I could manipulate pictures I found on the Internet. CLT has an area with Windows and Macs, digital audio lab, media presentation lab, video conference center, and an innovation studio. All of these facilities are available to students either on a walk-in basis or by appointment. If you need help with anything the CLT staff is there to assist you, and will even do some things for you for a small fee. There is also equipment to rent out, such as cameras, video recorders, and even external storage units. I will probably use the CLT lab for a study area because it is quiet. I could use the digital audio lab if I wanted to record myself playing the cello for an audition tape. The media presentation lab would be nice to use to run through a presentation in a classroom setting. I will probably use the computers down in CLT for our class because I don’t really want to download Photoshop on my computer and I am always in the library anyways.

Hello!
My name is Jessica Trevino and I am a freshman at Trinity University. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, particularly Alamo Heights, which is an astounding five-minute drive away from campus, ten in traffic. I live with my mother and (SECRET FACT!) five animals. I have four dogs: a Beagle-Dalmatian mix, Shitzu-Terrier mix, Chiwawa-Terrier mix, and a full bred Yorkshire Terrier. I also have a white non-lap-cat cat that hates the world. How did I acquire all these animals? I like to say that they found us rather than we found them--no one in my family can so "no" to an animal in need. This picture is of the cat and Chiwawa-Terrier mix. I also have a brother who is a junior at Texas Tech. I am dating a boy named Josh and have been for about three and a half years (he's the one smiling like a fool in the picture to the right). I play the cello and have for about nine years. I just made it into the Trinity Orchestra and will be taking lessons here as well. As far as other campus involvement opportunities, I think I am going to be doing a fair amount of community service. I have already joined the group Amnnesty International and am excited about the work we are going to do this upcoming semester. I have a job at a restaurant in Alamo Heights called Twin Sister's Bakery and CafĂ©—the most non-vegetarian vegetarian restaurant you will ever find. I have worked there since I was fifteen and enjoy it for the most part. I also have a work-study job on campus at the library in the special collections department.
I feel somewhat proficient in my computer skills. All of the schools I attended from elementary to high school placed a great emphasis on computer skills. In elementary school I took typing classes and learned basic functions on the computer such as using Internet explorer and word. In junior high school I was already and expert at the Internet, delved into word a bit further, and also utilized PowerPoint and excel. High school taught me more about the programs to which I was already accustomed and also integrated html, Mac technology, Photoshop, and other various programs that I do not really remember. Up to this point, computer class was just something I was forced to go through. I chose to take this class because I want to actually absorb and retain technology skills that I can utilize throughout my college career and beyond.
